Datacraft management makes a Home visit in Siem Reap
The Datacarft management team took time off to visit the Street Children Centre known as Krousar Thmey in Siem Reap, Cambodia. During the visit, the team was treated to traditional Khmer dance performances by the children. In return, Datacraft bought lunch for the children and donated US$2,200, which is equivalent to the monthly operating cost of running the centre.

Krousar Thmey (New Family) is the first Cambodian foundation set up to assist deprived children. The Centre offers temporary protection shelters for abandoned or street children and victims of trafficking so that they can receive proper care, moral and educational support before re-integrating into the society or family.

Datacraft Asia donated S$6,000 to purchase meals for the homeless migrant workers in Singapore
This donation was in response to a call by the charity organisation, One Singapore, which is dedicated to raising public awareness and taking concrete actions to make poverty a history. There are currently about 60 homeless men sleeping in front of a shophouse on Cuff Road, Singapore and most of them are over-stayers who have been duped by their agents, in debt and many do not even have any jobs. Our contribution of S$6,000 (US$4,380) is expected to help provide 50 sets of breakfast for these men. In appreciation of Datacraft Asia's sponsorship, One Singapore sent a letter of appreciation. Transcient Workers Count Too (TWC2) which is an organisation that looks after the welfare of foreign migrant workers, also expressed their appreciation. Datacraft Indonesia celebrated Indonesia's National Education Day
In celebration of Indonesia's National Education Day on 2 May 2008, Datacraft Indonesia dedicated their Carecraft activity to education by launching a scholarship programme for children living in poverty. 10 children were identified and proposed by the Datacraft employees based on some key crtieria drawn by the Human Resource department. To be considered for the scholarships, the selected children must show that they have good academic results and are ranked among top three in their schools. They will each receive IDR100,000 (US$11) per month and these scholarships are renewed annually, based on their academic performance. The selection process took two months to complete, from data submission to the screening process and evaluation before the final decision was reached in March.

To officiate the launch of the scholarship programme, some of the Datacraft employees visited the children to explain its objectives. The programme was well received by parents as it provides the opportunity for their children to continue with their education and to move on to a better future. Currently, most of their parents do not have any permanent jobs or are in low paid jobs, as many spend up to 80 percent of their wages to provide food for the family.

Datacraft Japan participated in “Paracup 2008 - RUN for the world’s children”, a charity marathon
Paracup 2008 is organised by Parasaiyo, an organisation which holds activities to help orphanages around the world. Held on 20 April 2008, at the western part of Tokyo, along the Tama River cycling road, 18 staff from Datacraft Japan participated in the event. Three of our participants signed up for the half-marathon, and the rest took part in the 10km run.

This event, which started in 2005, has been very successful and there were 2,000 participants this year. Part of the entry fee was donated to the underprivileged children through the organiser and some of the staff even donated t-shirts and pens to the underprivileged children, which were collected at the event venue.

All participants received a light blue coloured marathon t-shirt and a card with a hand-written message by the volunteers. The orphans who had benefitted from the previous years' Paracup events even made 'leis' for the participants who have completed their race.
