The Shelter of Love Ashram |
Donation to the “Shelter of Love” Ashram orphanage
Shelter of Love Ashram is an orphanage at Nalasopara, Taluka Vasai, District Thane (near Mumbai), that provides a permanent home to poor and needy children. Through the care and support provided, it hopes to realise the dreams of each child.
The orphanage has been managed by “Shelter of Love” Charitable trust for the past eight years. It currently houses 22 children who are being cared for by Rev. Fr. George Samuel.
Datacraft Asia's Director of Managed Services, Mr Sunil Desai, has personally visited the orphanage and met with Rev. Fr. George Samuel. Although the children are well taken care of and attending proper schools in the vicinity, the project will provide them with a permanent premise so they can have decent accommodation with dining area, playground and bigger space to take in more children.
Its new premise will sit on a plot of allocated land measuring around 10,000 square feet. The new building will have 10 rooms, including a medical clinic, library and rooms to house about 56 children. There will also be an open shed to hold activities for the students and local underprivileged residents in the area.
The total cost of the project is about Rs. 30 Lakhs (around US$70,000) and is financed by the Lions Club of Juhu, Mumbai (where Mr Sunil Desai was formerly a member). Datacraft Asia and Datacraft India contributed a total of Rs. 1.5 lakhs (around US$3,500) which will be used to fund the construction of one of the rooms.

Datacraft Asia and Singapore
brought cheers to the underprivileged in Singapore
Datacraft operations in Singapore contributed gifts and cash to the Boys' Brigade Sharity Gift Box project in December 2008. The wish list for the Sharity Gift Box included items ranging from basic necessities for children to tonics for the aged. The beneficiaries of these gifts were children, elderly and underprivileged families in Singapore.

The Boys’ Brigade Sharity Gift Box project is a national community service project organised annually by the Boys’ Brigade in Singapore. It aims to bring cheers to the less fortunate in Singapore through the collection of gifts and to promote the spirit of caring and sharing among Singaporeans. |

Datacraft Korea
showed how a little loose change can go a long way in the Love Loaf
program
Last year, Datacraft Korea participated in the annual Love Loaf program organised by World Vision Korea. The volunteers for the program each received a piggy bank shaped like a loaf of bread to store their loose change. At the end of the six-month program, all money from the piggy banks were donated to World Vision to support their activities. With the positive feedback and enthusiastic support from the employees, Datacraft Korea will definitely continue to participate in this annual program. |

Datacraft New Zealand sponsored
a Special Children's Christmas Party
Datacraft New Zealand donated NZD$5,000 (US$2,300) towards a Special Children's Christmas Party last year. The party, held at the TSB Bank Arena on 6 December 2008, was organised by Radio Network, in association with the children's charity, Cancer Society and Variety, for children suffering from life-threatening illnesses and those living in underprivileged circumstances.
The party gave these children one of the best days of their lives. They were treated to stage shows and activities like face painting, bouncing castles, hoop shooting, pony rides, petting zoo and merry-go-round rides. The highlight of the party was the special appearance by Santa Claus, who greeted each and every child with a gift he picked from the toys cave which held nearly 7,000 presents. It was truly a Christmas to remember!

community services project - Youths.Care
Datacraft Singapore recently sponsored Youths.Care, a community service project that raises funds for the Student Advisory Centre. The centre started as a youth charity helpline for runaway youths in 2003. It now offers various intervention programs to help students stay in school, provide free meals to those from financially disadvantaged families and counsel troubled youths.
In return, the centre presented Datacraft Singapore with a token of appreciation and a personalised note that read, “Thank you for believing in our ability to serve troubled children, youths and their families. You have enabled us to continue to do so through your generous donations.”

Datacraft Taiwan
supported the “Blest Seeds” Charity Sale
In the worsening economic crisis, the child abandonment situation in Taiwan has become a pressing issue. According to a report released by the Child Welfare League Foundation (CWLF), an average of more than 50 children per month, are being abandoned by their parents undergoing financial difficulties. Apart from the increase in child abandonment rates, CWLF has also received many calls from families wanting to put their children up for adoption as they are unable to support them.
Datacraft Taiwan rendered their support by purchasing 99 boxes of “Blest Seeds” through the charity sale organised by the Child Welfare League Foundation (CWLF). The sales proceeds went towards CWLF's child abandonment fund. Not only did the donors got to do their part for charity, the potted plants also helped to beautify the office environment. |
