9 children with the completed bikes on stage to thank Datacraft

Building a Good Cause

As part of its Carecraft activity at Datacraft FY'08 Sales Kick-off conference in October in KL, Malaysia, about 400 employees (in groups of 10) rolled up their sleeves to assemble and build a total of 35 children bicycles from scratch in 40 mins. The assembled bicycles were donated to the Harvest Centre, a Children's Support and Educational Centre for children of poor and disadvantaged families in Malaysia. 9 children (who were treated with ice-cream at the hotel) from the centre were present on-site to receive their presents. This is the first time they would get to ride on bicycles.

To show their appreciation for our gifts, these adorable kids took turns to recite a thank-you poem on stage. This was a very special touching moment for all the employees who have worked together as a team in building the bikes for a good cause, and make a difference to the children's lives.

Used Book Recycling Campaign

In giving back to our communities, Datacraft Hong Kong encouraged all employees to donate their used books to the 'Used Book Recycling Campaign', and had 18 staff who volunteered their time. Through this campaign, World Vision Hong Kong (WVHK) aims to raise funds for a construction project of Yong-Feng Secondary School in Shaanxi Province, which will enable over 3,000 youths to pursue their dreams of studying.

For the Datacraft team, the "rewards" they received for their social efforts were threefold: the 'Used Book Recycling Campaign' promotes environmentalism, helped raise funds for poor children in China so that they can complete their education and also benefits the society for buyers to purchase these second-hand books at minimum prices.

Skip-A-Meal Campaign

69 team members from Datacraft Hong Kong (DCHK) took part in the 'Skip-a-meal' campaign and donated the cost of the meals to World Vision Hong Kong (WVHK) on Children's Day (4 April 2007), a day to promote children's rights. It was the second year DCHK participated in this meaningful fund raising event organized by WVHK. The company gave a dollar-to-dollar match against the contributions from the employees and thus raised HK$17,100. The result was encouraging as the donation collected from staff was 73% more than last year.

The donations to WVHK would help provide these children with immediate access to essential necessities and facilitate the implementation of long-term programs that ensures food availability in poor countries.

SOS kids at Datacraft Bangalore "Fun & Frolic' Day

A Little Thought Means So Much

What can be more satisfying than doing our bit for the society and at the same time take home fond and cherishedmemories? The Global Service Centre (GSC) Shine Team & HR team at Datacraft Bangalore organized a 1-day ‘Fun & Frolic' program on 8th September 2007 for children of the SOS Children's Village of India. They provided lunch for these kids and spent the rest of the day with them in various dancing, singing contests and games - accompanied by the children's mirth and laughter. The small joys they shared with these children will be cherished by all those involved.
